Artraction is an art competition site open to anybody, both professional and non-professional creators from around the world to present their creativity.
Artraction was inspired by the potential of the internet to connect people.
The founders were excited by the idea that people from around the world, speaking different languages, and having experienced unique surroundings, cultures, rituals, religious practice, could communicate through a universal medium that was not constrained by geography or language barriers... art.
With the notion in mind that complex ideas, emotions, desires, experiences might be able to be expressed and communicated through images, the founders set out to put together a forum which would enable such interaction to take place.
This was how Artraction came to be.
MISSION STATEMENT:
a) to entertain
b) to provide exposure to amateur and professional visual creators
c) to create an international community of people using images and diagrams to communicate
d) to create a free database of images and graphics open to all under the creative commons license
e) to encourage artistic endeavor through monetary awards
Artraction at its most fundamental level is not about the art itself. It isn't about winning a prize. Artraction is not concerned, necessarily, with uncovering the next Mary Cassatt or Keith Haring or Andy Warhol (though you never can tell where the next genius will make their first appearance...)
Artraction is about people sharing their feelings and experiences. About the personal search for meaning and identity in an ever changing, growing inter-connected world.
